Common faults

The tumble dryer faults we see most.

These are the dryer faults our engineers are called out to most.

  • Not heating up

    £89–150
    26% of jobs

A tripped thermostat, blown thermal cut-out or failed heating element stops the dryer making warm air. We test and replace the part at fault.

  • Clothes still damp

    £85–145
    20% of jobs

Restricted airflow, a clogged condenser or a faulty moisture sensor leaves loads tumbling for ages without drying. We clear or renew the cause.

  • Drum won't turn

    £89–160
    18% of jobs

A snapped or stretched drive belt, or a worn motor, leaves the drum still while the dryer hums. We fit the right belt or motor part.

  • Won't power on

    £79–140
    15% of jobs

No lights or no response usually points to a faulty door switch, broken latch, mains fuse or control board. We trace the supply and fix it.

  • Noisy or rumbling

    £89–160
    12% of jobs

Worn drum bearings, tired support rollers or a loose pulley cause grinding, squealing or banging during a cycle. We replace the worn components.

  • Error code showing

    £79–150
    9% of jobs

A sensor or board fault flags a code and pauses the programme. Our engineer reads the code on the visit and puts the underlying issue right.

Fault frequencies and price ranges are based on tumble dryer repairs across our job records over the last 24 months. Your final price is confirmed before any work starts.

Rated Excellent from 29,921 reviews

From booking the repair to Daniel the engineer coming out, everything was prompt and professional. The initial cost was very reasonable, one charge for the call out. We needed a part, which was ordered straight away and fitted a couple of days later. We only paid for the part as fitting was covered. Will definitely use again.
Jacqueline J. Longbenton · Tumble dryer
The initial assessment was quick and arranged much faster than I expected. The part was available in less than a week and the friendly engineer fitted it efficiently, tested the dryer and even cleaned out dust and fluff from places I couldn't reach. Very pleased and would use them again.

Common questions

Tumble dryer questions, answered.

A few things customers usually want to check before booking a tumble dryer repair. If yours isn't covered here, the team is happy to talk it through.

Still got a question about your dryer?

How much does a tumble dryer repair cost?
Most dryer repairs land between £79 and £170. We agree a service charge before the engineer arrives, covering the callout, labour and VAT, and any parts are quoted separately for your okay before the work goes ahead.
Why is my tumble dryer not drying clothes?
It's often a failed heating element, a tripped thermostat or thermal cut-out, or restricted airflow from a blocked condenser or filter. The engineer tests the dryer on the visit, finds the actual cause and quotes before fixing it.
How quickly can you attend?
Same or next working day where there's availability. Booking before around 3pm gives you the best chance of a next-day visit, and you'll get a confirmed time slot.
Is the repair guaranteed?
Yes, every repair we complete is guaranteed. The exact length depends on the parts fitted and is set out in our terms and conditions, so you're covered after we leave.
