In this article, we’re going to talk through the possible causes for a dishwasher leaking water from the door and onto the floor.
As the components for a dishwasher are located underneath the appliance, all dishwashers have an anti-flood system and therefore customers would not be aware if there is a leak from these components.
One cause may be a customer’s lack of knowledge, or understanding, of the machine. When opening the door of a dishwasher, the seal around the front of the machine is not completely watertight, only splashproof at best.
If the spray arms in the machine are rotating correctly, then the seal is good enough to do its job. However, if the spray arms are blocked and therefore not rotating correctly, water will be directed straight at the corner of the door and will leak onto the floor.
For further information on cleaning and maintaining spray arms, please reference our article in the Help section of our website.
Incorrectly loading the bottom basket will also lead to water leaking onto the floor. Taller, larger items such as pots, pans and roasting trays should be placed at the back of the machine as they may direct water towards the corner door if located at the front.
However, if it has not then an alternative cause of water leaking can be a fault with the machine itself. If there is damage to the seal around the door then the seal will need to be replaced and you will need to book an engineer visit from NAC Repair.
If you do find that you require further assistance, you can book an engineer visit quickly and easily by following the Book A Repair button on our website.
