Common Faults Caused By Incorrectly Maintaining A Dryer Water Container

In this article, we’re going to talk through common faults caused by incorrectly maintaining the water container in a tumble dryer. In most cases, the water collection tray is located in a similar place to the dispenser in a washing machine.

When the water collection tray becomes full, there is usually a light or symbol that appears on the front of the machine to indicate that the tray needs emptying.

The water collection tray is quite long and can be heavy when full of water, with nothing inside to prevent the water moving about.

Therefore, it is recommended that you support both ends of the tray while holding it. You can then take the tray to the sink, turn it upside down and let the water naturally drain out.

However, it is important to be aware that when the indicator light appears, the heating element is automatically turned off while other components of the machine continue to work. This can give the impression that the dryer is working as normal however it is simply blowing out cold air.

Therefore, if it appears that your dryer is not heating properly or you are unsure of what the indicator light means, it is worth emptying the water collection tray.

If the indicator light appears but the water collection tray is empty, there could be a fault with the pump area of the appliance and you would require an engineer visit from NAC Repair.
